 Canadian-born soprano, Christine Petkus, has been hailed as a singer who "demonstrates great talent and diversity and has a great way of engaging with the audience" (Maestro Robert Eaton, Assabet Valley Mastersingers) and a “standout [who] showcased her vocal agility and dramatic abilities” (Johnna Leary, broadwayworld.com 2014)

 

Recent engagements include Norma in Norma (OperaTunities - Ottawa, Canada), Fiordiligi in Cosi fan Tutte (Greater Worcester Opera); a turn as Mother in Hansel and Gretel (Mass Theatrica); a Joint Recital through the Resonanz Foundation (New York) and First Lady in The Magic Flute (Greater Worcester Opera).

 

Favorite roles include Nedda in Pagliacci and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni (Hub Opera Ensemble, MD), Nella and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi (Greater Worcester Opera and Opera del West, respectively); Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus (Worcester Opera Works); The Witch in Hansel and Gretel (Opera Lyra Ottawa Young Artist Program).

 

Equally at home on the concert stage, Ms. Petkus has been the featured soloist in such works as Faure's Requiem, Syzmanowski's Stabat Mater, Brahms' Requiem, Mozart's Grand Mass in C Minor  Handel's Messiah, Vivaldi's Gloria and Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ.

 

August 2015 was spent studying and performing at the Mediterranean Opera Studio, Italy, working with such noted industry professionals as Nelly Miricioiu, Maestro Giovanni Reggioli, Scott Crowne and Dona D. Vaughn.

 

Upcoming engagements include Countess with Greater Worcester Opera (June) and Liu with Opera Susquehanna (July).

 

Ms. Petkus holds a Masters Degree from the New England Conservatory with a concentration in Opera and honed her vocal technique and artistry with Jack LiVigni (Metropolitan Opera) and Heidi Skok (Metropolitan Opera).
